While I can be found working in a sketchbook most days, every now and then I get out the good paper, set up my easel, and create something wall-worthy. Here is a selection of recent work.
I find most of my inspiration from the New England landscape, both cityscapes and rural views. I think I could find something exciting to paint every day for the rest of my life without ever leaving Massachusetts. From Cape Code to the Berkshires or right outside in my own backyard, there is always something that catches my imagination.
After beach combing on a recent trip to Cape Cod, I came home with an assortment of shells. On days when it's impractical to get outside, I can still paint from life. Each shell is unique and offers new inspiration and also new painting challenges.
While I am primarily a representative artist, sometimes it is fun to let my imagination flow freely in abstract expression, and the poet in me has as much fun naming them as I have painting them.
